"A subtly supernatural tale of intrigue, romance and mystery with a twist of dark humor. ... Painstakingly illustrated in a photo-realistic style, the first STRANGEHAVEN trade paperback, ARCADIA, collects issues 1 through 6 of the critically acclaimed and award winning comic book series. ... Alex Hunter awakes from a car crash only to find himself trapped in a deceptively idyllic village, deep in the English countryside. He soon encounters some of the village's bizarre inhabitants including an Amazonian shaman, a man who claims to be from the planet Nimoi, a woman with talking pets, and the mysterious clandestine brotherhood The Knights of the Golden Light. But who is the woman in the fish tank? Includes an introduction by Cerebus creator Dave Sim."

A man traveling the back roads comes across the bizarre town of Strangehaven, then finds himself unable to leave.
This is the start of a bizarre series by Gary Spencer Millidge, but an entertaining and engrossing one as well. Millidge’s artwork combines numerous artistic styles, from deceptively simple linework up to photo-realism, all of it coming together into something unique and evocative. His story is unusual, barely a story at all, but rather just walking through the day-to-day affairs of a strange little town loaded with unusual characters and untold secrets. Still there are so many weird things happening that our curiosity is quite effectively piqued and sustained from issue to issue. Maddening if you require comics that are easy or straightforward, but fans of “what the hell is going on?” stories will get quickly hooked.
